Guest Bath To modernize this guest bathroom in an older Mediterranean Spanish style home, I focused the design on finding a transitional contemporary feel that would blend with the overall architecture of the house while not detracting from the waterfront view of Key Biscayne. I added a custom floating vanity with a full wall of subway tile mosaic made completely of mother of pearl, which brings in the feeling of the ocean, while the quartz top–vanity gives a more contemporary look. Then I added hammered silver mirrors to bring an ethnic feel to the room, tying in the owners’ beautiful art collection. The result is a very peaceful and clean look that creates a daily refuge after a long day’s work. LivinG Room This living room was part of a complete re- model that gave a post mid-century feel to this waterfront apartment in Grove Isle Co- conut Grove. For the flooring, I used over- sized porcelain tiles that look like concrete, and added custom-designed wood cabine- try throughout. I opened up the kitchen to allow for the view, created the curved soffit in the ceiling for added kitchen lighting, and put in an oversized kitchen island for enter- taining. The open flow creates a spacious feeling and provides beautiful water views from every vantage point. Lastly, turquoise and orange accents complement the cli- ent’s extensive collection of semiprecious stones. “I choose just the right textures, colors and materials to comple- ment the client’s taste and lifestyle, while also making the most of the property’s assets.” — Magita Rojas Magita Designs, Inc. — TEL: 305.525.4494 www.magitadesigns.com 58 march/april 2013 southfloridaluxuryguide.com
