Featured Event pAWS FOR ART Benefits Founding Fosters Aventura Mall shoppers enjoyed a pop-up exhibit in anticipation of March’s Paws for Art Gala. Local artists created more than 50 life-size dog and cat sculptures to benefit the Founding Fosters Care Fund, which supports animal foster care until they’re permanently adopted from the Humane Society of Greater Miami. The colorful sculptures were auctioned at an “Adopt It Now” price, and winning bidders were invited to the exclusive gala. Overall, nearly $30,000 was raised. “As a result of Aventura Mall’s generosity, 100 percent of the proceeds went to the Founding Fosters program,” says artist Clara Poupel, who organized the Paws for Art event along with Bella Goldstein, who created the Founding Fosters support group. The event’s sponsors were Edouard and Frances Poupel; Neal and Elaine Slansky, Jared Slansky, Jessica Slansky-Sabath and Glenn Sabath, The Slansky Group of Wells Fargo advisors; Russ Kodner, Kodner Galleries; Whole Foods and Bloomingdale’s Aventura. Notable attendees included Billy Joel, Howard Weinberg, Lynette Janac, Denise Isaac, Adam Kuperstein, Lisa Petrillo, David Bernard, Bob and Arlene Diamond, and Mason and Rocio Mishcon.
