Food, Wine & Dine Must-Try: Tosca With a venue that’s alive with the romance of La Dolce Vita, Tosca Miami will sweep you off your feet and enchant and engage you from the moment you walk in the door. A glamorous showcase of some of the rarest ingredients from around the world offers an exciting preview of the tremendous attention to detail that restaurateur Stephan Fortier has in store for your entire Tosca experience. The fairytale-like courtyard that lights the way to the hidden dining area gives you the first taste of Tosca’s romantic ambience. It boasts such features as a poetry garden, stargazing station and an antique desk where lovers can pen “Letters to Juliet” (and receive a homedelivered response from her secretaries). But the food! The food is where the real magic happens. Following starters like homemade Foie Gras and Tuna Tartare, the Fettuccine with Mascarpone is tossed tableside in a wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano and topped with freshly shaved black perigord truffles, making a delicious feature on Tosca’s current tasting menu: A romantic 8-course dining special for two, at $75/person. Their pillowy chocolate mousse & crunchy pearls will leave a sweet smile on your lips as you and your date exit through the courtyard and rejoin the bustling energy of Collins Avenue with a delightful new secret to share. 210 23rd St., Miami Beach, 33139 786.216.7230 for reservations Villa Azur Since restaurant superstars Jean-Phillipe Bernard, Michael Martin and actor Olivier Martinez opened the doors to Villa Azur just last year, the spot has gained well-deserved fame among celebrities and Miami socialites for its energetic atmosphere and delicious food. Diners are transported to the South of France by the restaurant’s charming outdoor patio, decked out with chic white settees and accented by tea lights and greenery. The menu, created by Executive Chef Romain Bester, is a perfect tribute to the vibrant cuisine of the French Mediterranean, giving both Francophiles and foodies every excuse to come back for seconds. 309 23rd St., Miami Beach, 33139 305.763.8688 for reservations Meet Chef Brian Nasajon Last issue, the Guide team incorrectly identified Brian on our Taste of Town feature. Since we love the fare at SushiSamba so much, we wanted to make sure you knew who was behind all the delicious flavors! Miami native Brian Nasajon’s love for food is inspired by global ingredients, the spice cabinet of the Latin palate, and most importantly, his family’s love for cooking.  In 2011, Nasajon joined the SUSHISAMBA dromo and is now Chef de Cuisine.  He enjoys the restaurant’s like-minded affinity for flavors and modern approach to the Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian palate. Nasajon’s dishes include not-so traditional plays on street food like Deconstructed Feijoada, Sweet Corn Kakiage and Scallops a la Huancaina. 26 may/june 2013 southfloridaluxuryguide.com
