Film & ART November 2—February 23 Hernan Bas “A Queer and Curious Cabinet” Hernan Bas has been collecting rare objects for nearly a decade, amassing items from the 18th century to the present. Bas will feature objects from his collection in the Bass Museum of Art exhibition, TIME, which explores individual interpretations of time and bridges the gap between the museum’s historical collections and contemporary culture. www.bassmuseum.org November 17 & December 14 Deering’s Contemporaries: Artists at Vizcaya Walking Despite being furnished with antiques and historic artifacts, Vizcaya was a place where contemporary artists thrived. James Deering encouraged creativity by commissioning contemporary artists to create works specifically for the estate. The Perez Art Museum Miami exhibition reveals the interrogative nature of Weiwei’s practice and its role as an ever-questioning dialogue with the social, political and cultural positions of his native China and the world at large. www.pamm.org December 4-April 20 Project Gallery: Yael Bartana Israeli artist Yael Bartana has been commissioned to create a new work for the Perez Art Museum Miami, in conjunction with the Israeli Center for Digital Art, Holon. An artist deeply attuned to the most pressing political issues of our time, Bartana is researching and producing a work in Sao Paulo focused on the rise of Pentecostalism.  www.pamm.org December 4-May 1 AMERICANA The Perez Art Museum Miami’s permanent collection will be displayed thematically within six overview galleries throughout the first two floors of the building. Collectively titled AMERICANA, these six galleries will present artwork produced by artists working in North, South and Central America, and the Caribbean. www.pamm.org December 4-May 25 Hew Locke’s “For Those in Peril on the Sea” Dozens of scaled-down ship replicas suspended from the ceiling will create the impression of a massive exodus at the Perez Art Museum Miami.
