M I D T O W N & W Y N W O O D Diana Lowenstein Gallery S E E : Visit the Rubell Family Collection of consummate Miami collectors Don and Mera Rubell. With 45,000 square feet of exhibition space in Wynwood, it’s hard not to marvel at the towering ceilings and often larger-than-life works not made for smaller galleries. E AT: Jennifer Rubell’s highly anticipated breakfast happening returns to coincide with the Collection’s public opening on Thursday, December 4 from 9:00 a.m. to noon – and all are invited! 95 NW 29th Street, Wynwood; rfc.museum S E E : Art Miami celebrates 25 years, and local favorites Diana Lowenstein Gallery, Ascaso Gallery, Pan American Art Projects, Galerie Olivier Waltman and Now Contemporary Art are among the 125 participating modern and contemporary galleries. With sister fairs such as CONTEXT and Miami Beach’s Aqua Art Miami taking place contemporaneously, the city’s longest-running art marketplace makes its mark this December. E AT: Overwhelmed with art? Perhaps a game of bocce and a cocktail to take the edge off. Daniel Tackett, Bocce’s newest Executive Chef, is credited with some of New York’s finest Italian dining concepts. Taking his talents to the Midtown eatery, highly recommended is the Oxtail Cannelloni dish (and Beet Ravioli for the vegetarians). 3252 NE 1st Avenue, Midtown; bocce-bar.com S E E : Head westward to Wynwood for a bevvy of gallery exhibitions, street art projects, pop-up happenings and organized (or not) chaos. Gems such as Gallery Diet and Emerson Dorsch make the traffic worth it, though consider a scooter or bicycle for frequent stops to admire the murals. E AT: Once an abandoned warehouse, Michael Shikany’s culinary masterpiece, SHIKANY, opened earlier this March with an innovative approach to molecular cuisine. Think abstract colors, flavors and texture that serve as the composition for each dish as a work of art. 56 november/december 2014 southfloridaluxuryguide.com
