During Basel fair week, the Miami Dade College (MDC) Museum of Art + Design and MDC Live Arts are teaming up to bring the neverbefore seen expanded collection of paintings by Shen Wei to Downtown Miami’s Freedom Tower, in an opening weekend that will include five performances inspired by and in conversation with the visual works. Shen Wei - In Black, White and Gray explores the nuances of a grisaille palette with shapes and forms powered by a dynamism and forcefulness suggestive of sublime landscapes. A choreographer, director, dancer, painter and designer, Shen Wei DETOUR “THE MODERN UTOPIA” at MO Bar + Lounge at Mandarin Oriental, Miami 500 Brickell Key Drive Getting in on the festivities, MO Bar + Lounge at Mandarin Oriental and Art Lexing are designing “The Modern Utopia,” with works by acclaimed Chinese artist Lu Chengxiang and inspired cocktails by the award-winning hotel’s mixologists. The Cranes Who Played With A Young Man, Lu Chengxiang Dialogue With An Ancient Scholar, Lu Chengxiang Shen Wei. Oil & Arclyic On Linen is internationally renowned for the breadth and scope of his artistic vision, and he is perhaps best recognized as the lead choreographer for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
